Teaching

I teach sociology and criminology at the University of Melbourne and La Trobe University. My teaching explores culture, consciousness, spirituality, artificial intelligence and social theory, encouraging students to connect classical ideas with the challenges of the contemporary world.

Rather than treating sociology as a collection of theories to memorise, I encourage students to engage critically with the major thinkers of the discipline and to apply their ideas to questions that matter today—from identity and mental health to technology, politics and the search for meaning.

In 2025, I received the University of Melbourne School of Social and Political Sciences Teaching Excellence Award in recognition of my contribution to undergraduate teaching.
